Developing life skills with iCare | an essential guide
At iCare NT, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to live independently and confidently. Whether you are an individual with a disability looking to have more independence or a family member supporting a loved one, our programs are designed to help our National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants develop essential life skills, empowering them to take control of their daily routines and decisions and live as independently as possible.
This guide covers the support and training we offer to help you or your loved one develop life skills to thrive in daily activities.
How can iCare support you in developing essential life skills?
If you or your loved one is currently enrolled in the NDIS, they might feel overwhelmed by the obstacles, challenges, and learning experiences that come with gaining greater independence.
Common challenges include:
Managing daily tasks
Tasks like cooking, cleaning and managing finances can feel daunting without the right skills. These daily tasks are essential for daily living, and not feeling like you can manage them can lead to frustration and dependency.
Establishing routines
Creating and sticking to a daily routine can sometimes be difficult. Without a structured schedule, it’s easy to feel disorganised or overwhelmed by tasks or responsibilities.
Making decisions
Making informed decisions can be challenging when you’re not feeling confident in your abilities. Whether it’s deciding what to eat for dinner or making larger life choices, any lingering self-doubt can hinder your ability to take action.
What training programs does iCare NT offer to enhance independence?
Our goal at iCare is to empower you or your loved one with the skills and confidence to live independently, make your own choices, and manage your life effectively.
If your NDIS plan includes "CORE supports," iCare offers a variety of NDIS daily activities and services. These include assisting with or supervising tasks of daily life, aimed at developing the skills of individuals with standard (or mixed) support needs to live as autonomously as possible.
iCare services can support you with everyday tasks that enable you to live as independently as possible. Want to know more? We’re always here to help you! Schedule a meeting now.
